What is Pretend Town?

Pretend Town is a mobile role-play world made up of themed “pods” – little spaces that become shops, hospitals, kitchens, building sites, and more. Because everything is portable, I can bring Pretend Town to different venues and communities, and I have the freedom to refresh the scenes over time, keeping the experience exciting and full of surprises.

It’s a space where children can take on any role they want, and grown-ups are encouraged to get down on the floor and join in the fun. After all, the magic really happens when parents and carers become part of the story too.

About Me

Hi, I’m Megan – mum to three wonderful little ones, all under the age of five, and the founder of Pretend Town.

The idea for Pretend Town started with my eldest daughter. She’s never really enjoyed the noise and bustle of soft plays. Instead, I hear her saying over and over again, “Let’s pretend…” Whether she’s running a shop, looking after a baby doll, or going on a space adventure in the living room, her happiest moments have always been when she’s using her imagination.

I went looking for role-play sessions where children could immerse themselves in that same kind of make-believe – somewhere they could step into a world designed for pretending. But across Glasgow and South Lanarkshire, there wasn’t much like it. So, I decided to create it myself.
